Thuraya overview

Thuraya, is the satellite mobile services subsidiary of Yahsat, a leading global satellite operator based in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and wholly owned by Mubadala Investment Company, the investment vehicle of the Government of Abu Dhabi.

GSM roaming

With roaming agreements signed in 161 countries, Thuraya is able to offer postpaid and prepaid customers reliable roaming services on more than 395 global GSM networks. GSM subscribers from these networks can also insert their GSM SIM into a Thuraya satellite phone to use roaming services over the Thuraya satellite network, allowing them to stay connected even when they are outside of GSM coverage or when they are traveling and the fees for terrestrial roaming are very high.
