Shipping & Receiving Clerk

Job Purpose

Reporting to the Director Sales Operations, the Shipping & Receiving Clerk is responsible for handling all aspects of incoming and outgoing packages in the warehouse. They perform daily review of incoming and outgoing shipment schedules to maintain productive operations while keeping open communications with sales team regarding the shipment of orders.

They would be responsible for handling shipping and receiving paperwork, bar code scanning and manual entries into our EPR system, accurately packaging and weighing items, printing shipping labels, coordination of freight pick-up, and inspecting goods received for potential damage and staging products in designated areas.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the shipping of products from one destination to another by arranging transportation and orchestrating deliveries to meet customer demand with little to no delay
  • High volume of data entry into ERP system to maintain internal records
  • Locate and pull orders, assemble containers and crates, pack goods to be shipped, weigh packages to determine appropriate courier and print labels
  • Determine method of shipment, prepare BOL, commercial invoices, and other shipping documents following import / export guidelines and regulations for all international shipments
  • Promptly unload trucks and deliveries, operating a pallet jack or forklift; as needed
  • Inspect and verify incoming goods against BOL, recording shortages and rejecting damaged goods
  • Receive, label and place inbound inventory items on designated shelves in warehouse
  • Communicate with sales team via ticketing system, providing updates on orders in a timely manner
  • Support the sales team with quote generations, RFQ responses, and project coordination activities as it relates to freight cost, transit time and stock count
  • Ensure area is always kept clean and organized to avoid safety issues, including sweeping warehouse, and disposing of trash daily
  • Follow all safety policies and procedures
  • Drop off packages at local FedEx or UPS facility for urgent orders that missed regular pick-up schedule
  • Help as needed with quarterly and annual inventory counts
  • Perform other duties as assigned by direct management or team lead

Qualifications

  • Must have FedEx shipping experience, DHL & UPS a plus
  • Experience in international shipping
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong understanding of the Microsoft Office product suite
  • Working knowledge of legal regulations and ISO requirements preferred
  • Ability to organize, prioritize analyze connections and multi-task in a high paced working environment
  • Ability to work independently with minimal to no supervision
  • Ability to work in a team environment with a diverse group of personalities
  • High school diploma/GED required
  • 3-5 years of related logistics operations and order processing experience
  • Willingness to embrace change, and strive for personal development and advancement
  • Available to work Standard Office Hours (8am to 5pm CST)

Working conditions

This position typically operates in a professional office environment. Standard office hours are 8am to 5pm CST. There may be times when the employee is required to work outside of normal business hours. Varies from a climate-controlled office setting to warehouse floor in temperatures ranging from mild to moderate.

Physical requirements

Mobility to work in a typical office setting and use standard office equipment. Stamina to remain seated and to maintain concentration for an extended period. Frequent sitting, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling, and repetitive fine motor activities. Hearing and speech to communicate in person, via video conference and computers, or over the telephone. Vision: Frequent near acuity, occasional far acuity, and color vision. Vision to read printed materials and online, and other monitoring devices. Strength: Medium/Heavy - Exert force 50+ lbs., occasionally; 25-50 lbs., frequently; or 10-20 lbs., constantly.
